Timberland PRO participates in Timberland Earthday 2010
This year, three Timberland PRO team members from marketing (Aurélie Bouvet – Product Manager Footwear; Magali Le Parc-Dias & Carine Veluzat – Marketing & Communication) participated in Timberland's annual Earthday.
The Timberland Earthday was co-jointly organized with the Unis Cité (www.uniscite.fr) and Terra Natura (www.terranatura.fr) associations, and this year's event focused on organic agriculture and gardening.
In order to support the Earthday intiative, we were joined by the new Executive Chef of the Hotel Crillon in Paris - Christopher Hache (the youngest chef to ever work in a palace hotel) - and the "Une chorba pour tous" association who helps families and individuals in difficult financial and social situations. The Earthday participants met in a shared public organic garden on the Rue de Crimée in Paris' 19th district. After a few words from Christopher Hache regarding ecologically responsible gastronomie, the Earthday participants rolled-up their sleeves to clean and prepare the garden in order to plant tomatoes, squash, raspberries, eggplant, peppers, lettuce, herbs and insect-repellent flowers among other fruits and vegetables.
The berries and vegetables grown will be harvested and given to the « Une Chorba pour tous » association (www.chorbapourtous.org) who will distribute the produce to economically-strained families.
Some figures :
800m² replanted - approximately 45 000 tons of CO2 "recycled", the equivalent of 6 around the world tours in a Renault Clio!
